Individual Therapy

Individual therapy is about you getting what you need to live the life you created for yourself. It's about us as the therapist, helping you find the tools to not only exist but live.

You didn't make it this far by happenstance, it was because of resiliency, determination, and fight.

During the process of individual therapy, you will be able to see that clearly, while also gaining the ability to believe it.

You will learn how our thoughts shape our reactions and behaviors and tools that support you to be the best version of yourself. Individual therapy is beneficial in helping you navigate through some of life’s most difficult challenges successfully and with your needs in mind.

Depression & Anxiety

Sadness, hopelessness, fear, obsessive worry and the need to control things are some of the most common feelings we may experience at some point in our lives. Did you know, some of these feelings are present as a protective measure to help keep you safe.

For example: If life has been filled with disappointments or things not going as planned, having hope could almost feel as painful as feeling hopeless. Through counseling and EMDR therapy, we work together to identify some of the causes, past and present, that has led to these feelings. Often times, it is not what you did but what was done to you.

Childhood Trauma and Attachment Wounds

Did you grow up with a caregiver that was unavailable emotionally or physically. Did the people you depend on most, let you down? Did you feel unheard, unloved or isolated?

If any of this sound familiar, you may experience difficulty trusting others or letting your guard down. You may even be waiting for the next shoe to drop because you don't know who to trust.

Our counseling services are designed to help you overcome a range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, and more. Our therapists use evidence-based techniques to help adults develop coping skills, improve self-esteem, and achieve greater success in all areas of life.

Trauma & PTSD

When some hear the word trauma, they hear natural disaster, war veteran or a violent sexual or physical attack. However, the word trauma means a deeply distressing or disturbing experience. Some of us know without a shadow of a doubt we've encountered a few "deeply distressing or disturbing experiences" that still have a hold on us today.

Some of the symptoms caused by trauma may show up:

In the way we communicate with authority figures, in our relationships with friends or significant others, difficulty trusting others, having imposter syndrome, feeling like you must be superwomen to everyone because " I love to help people", working from sunup to sundown just to prove you are enough. These feelings along with sadness, hopelessness, anxiety, or overwhelm can linger long after the distressing disturbance has passed.

Experiencing a trauma can look like someone who:

  • Survived in a household that minimized them and their feelings

  • Lived with family members addicted to drugs and/or alcohol

  • Was belittled by those closest to them

  • Feels like they are disposable or what they want doesn't matter

  • Is a non-combat veteran that has PTSD or symptoms of PTSD

  • Had to seek safety and support from people other than parents

If any of this sounds familiar, you may have been exposed to trauma aka a deeply disturbing or distressing event.

We can help you manage these symptoms and guide you through the process of healing with the use of EMDR therapy and other therapeutic techniques.
