Hi! My name is Karen Kennedy and I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. One size does not always fit all, so I utilize an integrative style. Life sometimes comes with "hats" we did not choose but we certainly have a choice in how we feel, think, and respond! As an EMDR clinician, with Trauma -Informed Care approach, together we will personally tailor a good fit with stitching in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques interfaced with Unconditional Positive regard. With EMDR techniques, let’s clear out your old hat boxes, some that you may have even forgotten were hidden away.
What one will quickly realize when working with me is that I believe, live, and encourage the importance of establishing and maintaining boundaries and balance. It is my personal belief that when you achieve boundaries and balance in life, even the deepest-rooted trauma or even minor concerns become clearer and the path of identifying and living their personal unique order in life is obtainable. With the goal to work together to seamlessly ease into the therapeutic relationship, the client has the autonomy to move at their own pace.
I use a user-friendly intake process that sets the stage for the practical journey ahead. An important underpinning of change is self-work (activities uniquely assigned individually to practice in between sessions) is an important expectation in this process. This includes applying new coping skills and for EMDR - resourcing. I enjoy meeting each unique client where they are in their stage of readiness.
