You've taken a big step towards self-care, just by being here. Now, take a deep breath in and out because you did it!
I am a licensed mental health counselor, passionate about working with adult women who’ve overcame challenges and even broken generational curses, to get where they are today. Women who didn’t think they would make it because of their childhood but did. Women who believe they are damaged or broken but also believe they deserve more, despite their beliefs. Women who didn’t allow their childhood, partners or spouses to take them out. Women who fight to be their true selves. Women who are in the helping field and have little left over for themselves. Women who fought for our country and now need a little support fighting for themselves. Women who continue to “push through” despite sickness, sadness, anxiety or overwhelm.
I believe we all had experiences in our lives that led us to develop negative beliefs about ourselves. Whether we know it or not, these beliefs are what we use when viewing and interacting with ourselves and the world around us. The great news is, they can be changed to fit the person you truly are, not the person you see based on what happened to you or the mistakes you’ve made.
I use CBT and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. With the use of EMDR, you will identify unhelpful behavior patterns and negative perceptions that maybe hindering you from overcoming challenges or becoming your best self. I will also support you by reminding you, who matters most, You! By focusing on you first, you will see improvements in self-care, self-esteem, boundary setting and a reduction in anxiety, trauma, and depression symptoms.
I graduated from Webster University with a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have extensive experience working in private practice, community mental health, substance abuse residential treatment facility for women and in schools.
If you’re looking for extra support and guidance, allow me to partner with you on your journey. “If you don’t take care of you, who will”?
How many hats do you wear? Let’s be honest, in today’s fast paced world, many of us wear too many hats causing our lives to become unmanageable. If you are feeling overwhelmed, confused, stuck and/or depressed, it’s time to try on a new hat! One that is more aligned and uniquely fit JUST FOR YOU!
Hi! My name is Karen L. Kennedy and I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida. One size does not always fit all, so I utilize an integrative style. Life sometimes comes with "hats" we did not choose but we certainly have a choice in how we feel, think, and respond! As an EMDR clinician, with Trauma -Informed Care approach, together we will personally tailor a good fit with stitching in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques interfaced with Unconditional Positive regard. With EMDR techniques, let’s clear out your old hat boxes, some that you may have even forgotten were hidden away.
It is my personal mission statement to maintain order, balance, and boundaries in life. I enjoy helping others identify and create their personal unique order and finding the hat that works for them!
With over 17 years of experience in this industry, I’ve worked in residential, community-based, and virtual settings. I have a passion for working with youth, adolescents, and adults of all ages. Whether it’s Individual, Couple, or Family sessions - Let’s identify strengths, build upon them, and learn new ways of coping. Let’s prioritize the “hats” you wear.
I look forward to supporting you with a smile. Karen@aresilientyoucounseling.com
